This is a new author for me and totally enjoyed this book. I love mysteries and New Orleans is a favorite city of mine so this book was right up my alley. The one caveat and why I didn't give 5 stars is I would have liked the "feel" of New Orleans to be more present. I hope to see more of the uniqueness of the city in the next book. So happy to have a new author to explore!!Product details

Good book...good story...good romance!
Roller coaster rides have nothing on Ms. Jones. The twists and turns of the characters and the fast paced storytelling style kept me reading if nothing else just to "hear" what was going to be said next. Buy this book!
First read from this author . Love, loved, loved it! The characters were so quirky and unique. The story started with a bang and never let up.
There's nothing cute or funny about the ditzy old ladies in this story. Most of the characters are irritating. I made myself finish the book and it ended up being a waste of my time. Ugh !
This is the very first of Pauline Baird Jones' books that I read, and I fell in love with her writing style completely! The story is set in New Orleans, and she captures the feel of the area and people well. I felt like I was right there. It's a very fun romp with boy meets girl and she drives him nuts. The humor is blended very nicely as you go along - I definitely laughed out loud over and over! The "bad guys" are a hoot! I don't advise taking this to bed, though - you'll find yourself at 4 a.m., justifying reading "just one more chapter." Pauline is a fabulous story teller, and you'll enjoy this one fo' sure!
Hilarious story with not one, but several great mysteries. I immediately loved the character Luci and giggled through most of the second chapter where she appears. The funny banter between Luci and Officer Micky Ross, who has (to his annoyance) been landed with the job of seeing her safely from the airport to her aunt's house, keeps your interest while the mystery builds in the background. Protecting her from the first (yes first) attempt on her life ends up being the easiest part of the next few days for poor Micky, as things go from bad to worse. Loved all the characters and the ending was perfect. Well worth the read.
How do they do that? How do they take 26 letters and a handful of punctuation marks and create tales so rivetting that I forget I'm hungry? Honestly, these characters are so original, the storytelling so fluid, the dialog witty but real... I hope I can resist burning through her entire repertoire and read slowely, relishing each moment. Every now and then a rare talent emerges, and I'm very thankful to have found this one. Don't wait another minute! Get one of her books and start the fun!
