Book III in the Logan Dickerson Cozy Mystery Series
The two murders in Yasamee weren't the first ones Logan had seen . . .
Old enemies come back to haunt Logan as she finally gets to excavate the site in Georgia that she thinks will prove her theory that the Maya migrated to the United States. Miss Vivee and Mac, her partners in crime (solving), come to her rescue when she is named as a prime suspect. There's good reason to think she's involved - she's caught red-handed with the bones of the murder victim.
This one installment mixes fact with fiction, history with mystery, and two - count 'em two - murders for the quirky amateur sleuths to solve.

In this third volume of the series, I found myself in the controversial mystery of whether the Mayans reached the state of Georgia. This has been a discussion for many years, see History Channel or various books on Archeology and Anthropology. Our reluctant sleuth, Dr. Logan Dickerson, and her compatriots, Vivee and Dr. Mac, find themselves immersed in a new murder case. While digging in Gainesville, Georgia at the Track Rock Gap site, Logan discovers a skeleton of a male about three weeks dead. The problem? He is a person she knew in Belize and Panama who tried to kill her. Ah Oh. Suspect number one...
Miss Vivee and Dr. Mac decide to join her on-site to solve the crime and save Logan, whom they have become very attached to.
When another body looms, Logan really realizes that too much is going on and they had better get this murder solved.
This was a good mystery. Not as much humor this time but I do enjoy the trio of characters involved. Creative murder weapons each time. Will look forward to the next book in the series.

Maya Mound Mayhem A Logan Dickerson Cozy Book 3 edition by Abby L Vandiver Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I love this series! Being from the south, I love all the familiar locations and local characters!
The story is not as engrossing as the other Logan Dickerson I have already read. The worst part is the editing--not just typos, but the most abominable grammar and sentence structure. I am not an English teacher, but I found this novel nearly unreadable.
When it comes to books, I'm a person of extremes. I mainly like two types of books intellectual mind twisters and pure entertainment. Maya Mound Mayhem clearly falls into this last category it is anashamedly pure entertainment. If that's what you're into I'm sure you'll enjoy this one (and all the other books in the series also). And apparently this isn't the end of the series either. I enjoyed reading about these quirky characters and the murder mystery is fresh and interesting. Keep 'em coming Ms. Vandiver!
The third book in this series is showing signs of the characters and the plot line losing steam. The predictability of the storyline and the inability to hold the reader's attention is unfortunate. I hope the author tightens up this series as it has much going for it.
I fell in love with the first Logan and Miss Vivvie books and looked forward to number 3. Unfortunately, it does not stand up to the other two. Without giving away the plot, I felt that the ending was rushed and did not provide a satisfactory winding up of all loose threads. I look forward to reading the next book, but hope the author takes more time developing the second half.
I've now read all three books in this series. Although the storylines are interesting, the errors in grammar are so flagrant that I couldn't concentrate on the story itself. Someone needs to proofread these books before they are published. Sometimes there were multiple errors on the same page!
he reads like an episode of Bones except for one crucial thing. The editing of this book is horrible. There are so many grammatical and typographical errors that you find yourself reading over sentences a couple of time to understand what the author was trying to say. There were errors on every page. The author states at the end of her book that she would appreciate grammatical corrections, but honestly, there are so many in this book that it would take a week to write everything down and send it to her. The overall story is not bad but it is very frustrating to read.
